Say hello to our snails!

Last week the children in year 2 found out some exciting news... they were going to get class pets! And not just any old pet, a Giant African Land Snail.

The children spent their week researching these creatures and writing fact-files about them in order to learn how to take care of them. They held class votes to decide on appropriate names and we are pleased to welcome:

Jeff  in Class 7 →

← Spiro Wiggles in Class 8 (Enjoying a late night snack!)

Happy in Class 9 →

Ask your child what they know about these animals, they have learnt some very interesting facts!

For example, did you know that a snail has a radula? This is a type of tongue that contains thousands of tiny teeth, which act like a conveyor belt when the snail eats.

The snails have settled in well and are enjoying life at Ridgeway! We'll look forward to sharing more of their adventures and travels soon.
